What started with an unsecured tarp blowing in the wind ended with nine charges and a commercial vehicle being taken off the road in Bradford West Gwillimbury

South Simcoe Police say an officer conducted a roadside inspection around noon Friday, on Yonge Street, north of Line 8.

Police say the inspection uncovered multiple safety violations, including improper trailer brakes and a cracked suspension.

The vehicle was deemed unfit for operation. Its licence plates were seized, and it was towed from the road.

A 21-year-old Brampton man faces four charges under the Highway Traffic Act, while a Thornhill business faces five.

Police say commercial vehicle inspections take time, but they help identify unsafe vehicles before they contribute to a collision and put other road users at risk.
