A driver was arrested overnight and charged with drug-trafficking offences after police say he was stopped because his vehicle's "full headlighting system" wasn't on.
Barrie police say they spotted the vehicle on Bayfield Street just before 1:00 a.m. this morning.
"Officers activated their emergency equipment and the involved motor vehicle turned left onto Sophia Street East and came to a stop," police wrote in a release.
"Officers approached the car and based upon observations that were made, requested the driver and a female passenger to exit it so that a proper search could be safely conducted."
Police say they located suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and oxycodone.
The driver was transported to police headquarters where the investigation continued. According to officers, the female passenger was not arrested.
