Orillia OPP arrested and charged three people with impaired driving over a six-hour period, with some being involved in collisions.
Started on Friday evening around 10:00 p.m., police were dispatched to reports of a possible impaired driver on Highway 11.
The vehicle was located near Westmount Drive and Coldwater Road in Orillia.
A 55-year-old Markham woman was charged with:
- Operation while Impaired
- Operation while Prohibited
- Dangerous Operation
- Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent
- Obstruct Police Officer
The accused was released on an undertaking to appear in Orillia court in September.
Then a few hours later around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 northbound in Oro-Medonte.
Upon arrival, officers say the driver was displaying signs of alcohol consumption and was arrested.
A 30-year-old Barrie man faces the following:
- Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs
- Operation while Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Careless Driving (HTA)
He is scheduled to appear in Orillia court later this month.
Highway 11 northbound was closed for a short time to remove the vehicle and repair the highway.
A couple more hours later, shortly after 4:00 a.m., OPP responded to reports of a collision on Highway 11 northbound near Line 2 in Oro-Medonte.
Police say they located injured occupants and also determined that one driver was impaired.
A 54-year-old from Toronto was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section
- Careless Driving (HTA)
- Driving While Suspended (HTA)
The accused was released on an undertaking to appear in court later in the month.
The driver of one vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Highway 11 had to be closed for a short time to remove the vehicles.
