Unfortunately for motorists, repairs to a sinkhole on Highway 400 in Bradford could last a few more days, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

The 11-foot-deep sinkhole is in the southbound left lane approaching Line 5. The northbound left lane of the 400 just north of Line 5 was closed Tuesday afternoon.

Schmidt told Barrie 360 there could be additional lane closures.

The sinkhole is not massive and doesn't look like much at first blush.

"This is the problem. It doesn't look like much on the surface, but once you took a look inside, you can see a drain tile, and the hole goes down at least 11 feet. It looks deeper than that to me," Schmidt said.

The left lane southbound on the 400 has been closed since late Monday afternoon.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area, and if not, then expect hefty delays.
