16-year-old sent to trauma hospital after ATV and car collide in Tiny Township

Tiny Township ATV car crash

Southern Georgian Bay OPP are investigating a crash between an ATV and a car that sent a 16-year-old boy to a trauma hospital.

Police say the incident happened Wednesday around 1:00 p.m. on Baseline Road between Concession Road 4 and Downers Road in Tiny Township.

The 16-year-old was transported to a local hospital, then later airlifted to a GTA trauma hospital, for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

"Investigators are of the belief the ATV was crossing Baseline Road when the ATV was struck by a northbound vehicle," OPP stated in a release. "Investigators continue to investigate if the ATV operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash."

The roadway was closed until 3:40 p.m.

"Officers stress that wearing all of the required safety equipment and being in control at all times while operating any off-road vehicle (ORV) is the key to reducing the chance of injury or worse," OPP added.
