The search is on for a white Ford Explorer, model years 2007-2009, that Barrie Police say did not stick around following a collision in the city's north end.
Police say the crash happened Tuesday on Bayfield Street, just south of Heather Street.
"Upon arrival at the scene, police learned that the vehicle responsible was exiting from a parking lot on the eastside of Bayfield Street just after 2:00 p.m., when it struck a red motor vehicle that was stopped in the in northbound turn lane for Heather Street. The driver of the struck car has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries," police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Police say the SUV fled the scene at a high rate of speed and got onto southbound Highway 400. Investigators believe the vehicle will have significant front-end damage.
The driver is described as man with blonde hair who is believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, and a second male may have been in the front passenger seat.
