A Barrie man in his 30s was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital after he was struck by a van in the city's north end.
Police say it happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of Bayfield and Coulter Streets.
They say the vehicle in question was travelling through the intersection and the pedestrian stepped out onto the road in an unsafe manner on a red light.
"It would appear as if this was one of those collisions that was definitely avoidable if the pedestrian had used the appropriate means of crossing the road," said Barrie Police communications coordinator Peter Leon.
He said there were numerous witnesses at the scene that were very helpful to the investigating officer from the traffic unit.
Leon added the investigation is ongoing and charges against the pedestrian are pending.
