Orillia OPP lay impaired charges over the weekend

Provincial police in Orillia arrested and charged two individuals with impaired driving over an eight-hour period on the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, shortly after 4:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a vehicle collision in the west end. 

"While there were no injuries from the collision, one driver was determined to be impaired and subsequently arrested by police," OPP stated in a release.

A 48-year-old Orillia man has been charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired (CC)
  • Operation while Prohibited (CC)
  • Careless Driving (HTA)

He was released on an undertaking to appear in Orillia court in December.

The next incident happened on Sunday around 12:10 a.m. when officers were conducting RIDE checks on Atherley Road. 

"Officers determined the driver of a motor vehicle was displaying signs of alcohol consumption and was subsequently arrested," police say.

A 42-year-old Orillia man was charged with Operation while Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus).

He is scheduled for court later in the month.
