OPP say 74-year-old boater found dead near Washago

Owner uses GPS to track stolen vehicle in Muskoka, suspect arrested in Wasaga Beach

Orillia OPP say they have located an overdue boater deceased on Green River near Washago on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., OPP was dispatched to Green River for the overdue boater whose vessel was found abandoned. 

OPP, along with residents, Ramara Fire Department, and Simcoe County Paramedic Services searched and located the occupant who was pronounced dead.

"The deceased has been identified as a 74-year-old male from Ramara. His name will not be released," police said.

"Orillia OPP would like to thank all local residents who assisted at the scene."
