An alert from the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system led to drug trafficking charges for a 44-year-old woman in Midland.

On Monday around 9:30 p.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on Midland Avenue after receiving the alert.

"Officers discovered that the driver had a warrant with a separate police service," OPP said in a media release. "The driver was arrested and during a search of the vehicle, a quantity of cocaine was seized."

The Christian Island woman was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine

"Custody of the accused was transferred to a separate police service which possessed the warrant," police added.

She has a court date scheduled for late December.
