Orillia OPP arrested and charged three people with impaired driving over two days - with two drivers involved in collisions that closed roadways.
On Friday just before 9 p.m., police were dispatched to reports of a multi-vehicle collision with injuries on Highway 11 southbound near County Road 169.
"Officers were forced to close the highway due to guardrail damage and debris on the highway," OPP stated in a release. "During the investigation, police commenced an impaired driving investigation upon speaking to one of the drivers."
A 30-year-old Orillia man was charged with:
- Operation while Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous Operation
- Novice Driver B.A.C Above Zero (HTA)
He was released to appear in Orillia court at the beginning of January 2024.
Around an hour later, officers responded to reports of another collision with injuries, this time on Coldwater Road in Orillia.
"Upon arrival at the scene, officers closed Coldwater Road at Albert Street. Officers determined the driver of one motor vehicle was displaying signs of alcohol consumption and was subsequently arrested," OPP said.
A 36-year-old Orillia man faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs
- Operation while Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway (HTA)
He's scheduled for court in January 2024.
Then this morning around 3 a.m., police say they responded to a disturbance on Woodside Drive.
"Police located an involved vehicle and upon speaking with the driver entered an impaired driving investigation," officers said.
A 57-year-old Barrie man is up on the following:
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Demand
The accused also has a court date for January 2024.
All three drivers were issued ninety-day (90) licence suspensions and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.
