Orillia OPP charged a 24-year-old driver with impaired operation after they say he tried to skip a RIDE check.
The incident happened in Washago on Friday just after midnight.
"Orillia OPP were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in the community of Washago when they observed a motor vehicle attempt to bypass the RIDE program by cutting through a parking lot," police wrote in a media release.
"Officers soon caught up with the vehicle and spoke to the driver. From their interactions and investigation, officers determined the driver to be impaired and placed him under arrest."
A Washago man has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol blood concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
He is scheduled to appear in Orillia court in January 2024.
His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
