A weapons call and standoff in Innisfil Sunday ended "peacefully" with a man being arrested, South Simcoe police say.

Around 9:30 a.m., police responded to reports of a man with a knife walking up and down a street in the area of 25th Sideroad and 10th Line. Police say he then entered a residence and barricaded himself inside.

"Police set up containment of the home," officers wrote in a release on Monday morning.

"Members of the Emergency Response Unit were on scene along with trained Crisis Negotiators who established contact with the man. Approximately four hours later, the man surrendered peacefully to police and was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured."

A 41-year-old of Innisfil was charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Two counts of Uttering Threats

He was held for a bail hearing.
