A man and woman were arrested regarding the theft of power tools after Barrie police followed footprints in the snow to their location.
Early this morning, around 3:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of two suspicious people looking into vehicles parked at a Bryne Drive business.
"As police were responding, additional information was received that they were now carrying what appeared to be bags that contained cordless power tools and batteries," police said in a release.
"Upon arrival at the scene, police followed footprints in the snow and located a male and female in a wooded area. These people were in possession of power tools, and battery packs and after reviewing video surveillance that had been taken of them carrying out the theft, they were placed under arrest and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued."
A 25-year-old man of no fixed address and a 40-year-old woman were both charged with:
- Mischief under $5000
- Theft under $5000
- Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
The man also faces a charge of:
- Fail to Comply with a Release Order
While the woman:
- Disobey Court Order
They were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in Barrie court today.
