Wrong-way driver

A wrong-way driver is facing impaired charges after striking a utility pole in Innisfil, the South Simcoe Police Service says.

On Sunday just before 2:00 a.m., officers responded to the single-vehicle crash on Innisfil Beach Road near the 20th Sideroad.

"Investigation determined a vehicle was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it struck the centre median, lost control, and crashed into a utility pole," officials said on Monday morning. "The driver, who was not injured, was placed under arrest."

A 45-year-old Innisfil man was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol

His licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle impounded for seven.
