Barrie police are looking for a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday at a Circle K located in the Duckworth plaza at Duckworth and Grove Streets.
Police say the suspect, who was armed with a "kitchen-style knife," demanded money and cigarettes.
The employee complied with the demand and the suspect fled.
He is described as 5'8-5'10, wearing a grey toque, red and black and grey flannel button up, black hoodie, black and white red Nike sneakers with red laces, and a light brown face mask.
The suspect was last seen fleeing through the parking lot toward Sylvia Street.
Police have released surveillance video from the store in the hope someone can identify the suspect.
"His footwear may be a key to his identity as his red and black coloured Nike shoes with red laces are believed to be somewhat unique," police stated in a news release on Tuesday.
Investigators do not believe this robbery is connected to one that happened in the area of Grove and Johnston Streets just before 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Officers were told that a 26-year-old individual was leaving a convenience store when an unknown male approached him on Grove Street East. The suspect flashed a knife and stole the victim’s wallet. He was last seen on foot running down a nearby walkway.
“The suspect is described as male black, 5’9”, average build, 130-140lbs., early 20’s, glasses, wearing a face mask and a black winter coat. A second male who was seen with the suspect, but was not involved in the robbery, is described as wearing a camouflage track suit,” according to a police media release.
The victim did not sustain any injuries.
