Ontario Provincial Police say they have recovered a police-issued rifle that was stolen from an officer's vehicle in Angus on Saturday.
A large police prescence was visibile in the area of Brentwood Road in response to the theft.
On Sunday evening, police issued an advisory alerting the public about the stolen firearm and even urged the person(s) who allegedly took the weapon to contact the Nottawasaga OPP detachment to make arrangements to safely turn it in.
Police did not disclose where the rifle was found.
"The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stolen firearm remain ongoing. More inforamtion will be released when it becomes available," OPP said in a news release Monday evening. "The OPP extends its gratitude to the community for their support, cooperation, and vigilance during this process."
