There are places police and fire services don't want the public to be, such as on the ice of area waterways.
Barrie first responders headed to Kempenfelt Drive on Friday after a report of a person on the ice on Kempenfelt Bay.
The person did not need to be rescued though fire officials are not encouraging anyone to copy that kind of behaviour.
York Regional Police (YRP) continue to remind residents to stay off the ice on Lake Simcoe.
"Warm weather and high winds have continued to make ice conditions unpredictable," YRP police stated.
In a post to X on Friday, YRP revealed how drastically ice conditions can change in a short period of time.
"The first photo, taken on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, shows how high winds and warm weather caused large sections of open water to appear on Lake Simcoe," said police.
The second photo was taken on Friday, and it shows how the ice has melted, despite colder overnight temperatures.
"The thickness of the ice on Lake Simcoe can vary based on currents below the surface and temperatures above. Uneven cracks can quickly form, resulting in hazardous obstacles for anyone on the lake. Check with your local ice hut operators for information in the latest ice conditions," added YRP.
