Minivan and horse and buggy collide north of Shelburne, 8 people taken to hospital

Ontario Provincial Police say eight passengers in a horse and buggy were transported to hospital with unknown injuries after a collision with a minivan north of Shelburne.

OPP say the crash happened Sunday afternoon on County Road 9 between the 4th Line and 2nd Line of Dufferin County.

A picture posted to X by provincial police shows a destroyed buggy at the side of the road.

Police also said that two horses that escaped after the collision were now safe in a local farmer's barn.

County Road 9 east of Dundalk was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
