Barrie's 22nd annual ten-day film festival features the best films from Canada and around the world. There are a ton of films to check out during the festival along with special events like the Opening Film & Party, Short Film Showcase, and After-Party.

The Uptown Theatre will host the Opening film "Willie" about the life, career, and impact of Willie O'Ree who broke the NHL colour barrier in 1958. Following the screening will be the Opening Night Party with live music from DJ Matt Shaw and delicious hors d'oeuvres from Michael & Marion's Restaurant. The Opening Night Film & Party kicks off October 18th at 730 PM.
Short Film Showcase
On October 19th at 630 PM, The Uptown Theatre will again host the Short Film Showcase, a collection of highly varied films curated by the festival's panel of judges. Make sure you fill out a ballot and vote for your favorite. Afterward, the Sandbox Centre will host the Awards Presentation and Filmmakers Party at 9 PM where you can mingle with filmmakers, listen to live music from Casey George, and enjoy hors d'oeuvres from Cocina Mexicana Restaurant and fine cheese and chocolate from J'adore.

Start out the evening with the gala screening of "La Belle Epoque" a charming romantic-comedy from France that had a special presentation at the Toronto Internation Film Festival this year. After the screening head over to Common Good Cafe And Social House for the After Party Celebration with dancing and hors d'oeuvres.
The Barrie Film Festival takes place from October 18th to 27th and there are multiple ticket packages for you to choose from including single tickets for $10, ten ticket flex-packs for $80, or get an all-access pass to the whole festival for $150.
