In a statement released on Friday, the Premier League has made it clear where they stand in regards to Black Lives Matter and are standing with players who wish to show support.
Players from all 20 clubs shared the following statement:
"We, the Players, stand together with the singular objective of eradicating racial prejudice wherever it exists, to bring about a global society of inclusion, respect, and equal opportunities for All, regardless of their colour or creed. This symbol is a sign of unity from all Players, all Staff, all Clubs, all Match Officials, and the Premier League #blacklivesmatter #playerstogether."
In solidarity with its players, the Premier League has announced that it will not only support those who wish to "take a knee" before or during matches but also supports the initiative of players who wish to replace their names with 'Black Lives Matter" for the first 12 matches of the restarted 2019/2020 season.
Additionally, the Black Lives Matter logo will remain on all jerseys for the remainder of the season, along with a badge thanking the United Kingdom National Health Service for their work during the Covid-19 crisis.
