A new "Doctor Who"
Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa is the 14th incarnation of “Doctor Who.”
The 29-year-old is the first black actor to play the time lord when he takes over for Jodie Whittaker next year.
In a news release, “Doctor Who” showrunner Russell T. Davies says Gatwa dazzled them, saying he “seized hold of the Doctor and owned those TARDIS keys in seconds.”
Gatwa is best known for playing Eric Effiong, an openly gay teen on the hit Netflix show “Sex Education.” A role that’s earned him the Best Actor Award at the Scottish BAFTAs in 2020.
“Unlike the Doctor, I may only have one heart, but I am giving it all to this show,” Gatwa said in a statement.
We get to see him as the Doctor in 2023.
