The common thread in all the "Scream" movies is leaving the franchise.
Neve Campbell has announced she will not be part of "Scream 6," and salary negotiations are to blame.
This comes on the heels of the massively successful "Scream (5)" which earned $140 million.
Campbell explains that it was a difficult decision.
"Sadly I won't be making the next Scream film. As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to 'Scream''
"I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.
"It's been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my 'Scream' fans, I love you. You've always been so incredibly supportive to me. I'm forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years."
Neve Campbell
It's a huge disappointment to "Scream" fans who have been watching Campbell's character, Sydney Prescott, continually dodge and outsmart many, many Ghost face(s) since 1996.
While escaping their deadly clutches, she teaches a new generation of survivors how to survive a scary movie.
Let's hope they carry the torch, Neve.
Scream 6 is scheduled for release in summer 2023.
