Chris Pratt assures fans that his Super Mario voice will be unique and updated.
The actor gave fans an update on the upcoming super Mario brothers movie, in which he voices the iconic and loveable plumber, turned goomba fighting, mushroom kingdom saving hero.
The casting choice was criticized as people worried that an Italian-American accent by someone who isn't Italian would be stereotypical.
However, speaking with Variety, Pratt assured fans that they shouldn't worry;
"I worked really closely with the directors and trying out a few things and landed on something that I'm really proud of and can't wait for people to see and hear. It's an animated voiceover narrative. It's not a live-action movie. I'm not gonna be wearing a plumber suit running all over. I'm providing a voice for an animated character, and it is updated and unlike anything you've heard in the Mario world before."

Other people lending their voices include Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. Seth Rogen also plays the voice of Donkey Kong.
The much-anticipated movie is the product of Illumination Studios, the same people who brought us The Despicable Me, Minions, Sing, and The Secret Life of Pets films.
It's expected to be released in Spring 2023.
