A "Stranger Things" spinoff and a stage play are in the works.
The insanely popular show's creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, are working on a spinoff to add to the Netflix catalogue.
Details are minimal, but according to Variety, the show will be based on the original idea, but it will not focus on characters like Eleven or Steve Harrington.
Meanwhile, the show will get a life beyond the small screen as plans are underway for a stage play. Details are minimal on this too, but it will be set within the world and mythology of "Stranger Things."
It's not surprising that spinoffs are in the works, as the show has been a massive hit since premiering in 2016.
Season 4 recently blew previous Netflix records out of the water, surpassing the drama "Bridgerton" as the streaming service's most-watched English-language show.
In a statement, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said,
"Matt and Ross are an exceptionally unique talent with a vision so crisp and clear. They are all about the details — it's no accident that 'Stranger Things' has pierced the zeitgeist to become the epic pop culture phenomenon it is today.
