"I love you, you love me, we're gonna get a new Bar-ney!
Parents, hold onto your tail cause the big purple dinosaur is getting a reboot.
The sweet dinosaur from the 90s is getting a new look, tv shows, YouTube content and a movie, all starting next year.
Reports say the show will be targeted toward pre-schoolers and centered on love, community, and encouragement.
In a statement, Mattel's General manager explained, "it was important to us that we properly reflect the world that kids today live in so that the series can deliver meaningful lessons about navigating it. With our modern take on Barney, we hope to inspire the next generation to listen, care, and dream big. We think that parents, many of whom will fondly remember the original Barney from their own childhoods, will love the show, too."
In addition, there will be merch. Lots and lots of merch. Mattel says they plan to include Barneys classic looking merchandise for those feeling nostalgic.
The original "Barney & Friends," debuted in 1992, sparking great love and joy.
Of course, it wasn't without some controversy. Unsubstantiated rumours began swirling around the show, causing some misguided hatred the guy who just wanted to love. The weird fallout was covered in a documentary titled. " I hate you. You hate me" on Peacock.
In 2019, Mattel announced they would produce a live-action Barney movie with actor Daniel Kaluuya. It's not known how this announcement affects the film.
