Since committing to "live life better," John Goodman has lost 200 pounds, and we are learning about the hard work and consistency he put into making that happen and having it stick.
The 71-year-old showed off his transformation at a recent Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco.
In 2007, while weighing 400 pounds, he decided to start making changes for his health, but things didn't always work out.
In 2017 he said quick fixes didn't work for him.
"In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits. This time, I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. " he said.
And he found the perfect thing to help him on his journey.
His trainer Mackie Shilstone told the New York Post the main things Goodman did to turn things around include a Mediterranean-inspired diet with plenty of fish, vegetables, fruit, olive oil, and nuts.
For exercise, he works out on a treadmill or elliptical machine six days a week and gets in a minimum of 10,000 steps each day.
"This didn't happen overnight, said his trainer.
"It's been an ongoing process."
