Kristen Bell and Dax Sheppard's kids enjoy an occasional non-alcoholic beer

What's Trending with MJ

Instead of reaching for a soda or juice, Kristen Bells' kids like to go for a cold can of non-alcoholic beer.

The mother of two explained her children's quirky drink of choice while a guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show, saying the kids will actually ask for it at restaurants.

"And I'm like, maybe we don't; we just keep that for home time," she told Clarkson.

The story behind why her daughters, ages 8 & 9, like the fake suds, is actually really sweet.

Bell's husband, Dax Sheppard, is a recovering alcoholic, and having the beverage was part of a ritual when their kids were babies.

Bell explained, "He likes non-alcoholic beer, so he'd pop one open, he'd have Lincoln on his chest, and we'd walk and look at the sunset,"

"As a baby, she was pawing at it, and sometimes she'd suck the rim of it. So I think it feels to her like something special, something daddy, something family."

Since there is absolutely no alcohol in the drink, Bell says it's harmless saying. "I'm also sort of like, you can judge me if you want. I'm not doing anything wrong; that's your problem."

NA beer typically contains 0.0- 0.5 percent ABV, while the traditional boozy beverage contains 5 percent ABV.

According to thenutrition insider.com, a ripe banana can contain 0.6 ABV., same as a glass of Kombucha. So no need to worry; her kids are fine with an occasional near beer.
