The Soap Oprah world is mourning the loss of Tyler Christopher from General Hospital.

The 50-year-old was well known for his role as Nikolas Cassadine on the show from 1996 to 2016 , and later played Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives from 2018 to 2019.

Reports say the Emmy Award winner died following a "cardiac event" at his San Diego home.

His friend and long-time co-star Maurice Benard broke the news on social media, saying, 'Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting. Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him.'

Benard added, "Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father."

In his personal life, Christopher was married to Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004.

His second marriage was to former ESPN reporter Brienne Pedigo from 2008 through 2021, and they have two children.
