A Toronto Hotel's policy on serving red meat is going viral after an American tourist had to sign a waiver to eat a medium done burger.
The visitor to the Hilton Toronto explained on Reddit that sheordered her burger medium, and the waiter didn't question them on their preference.
But things got weird when the order arrived.
"She brought it and it looked great! When I had my first bite, she brought me a release form and said we always make our burgers well done, but since you wanted it medium now, you should sign this!"

The Reddit user says they paid for their meal but didn't finish the burger because they lost their appetite at the thought of it being dangerous.
In Canada, for years, the law states restaurants have to do burgers well-done to kill off any possible E. coli, which is 71 C or 160 F.
Multiple media outlets contacted the Hilton, who said, "Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites adheres to all Ontario Food Safety Laws."
" When guests request a cooking temperature for meat that is below the minimum required, our hotel provides a waiver as an additional food safety measure with language consistent with what you might see printed at the bottom of restaurant menus."
