After a few years of speculation, a sequel to “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” is officially happening.

Speaking with US Weekly, star Mira Sorvino said work is "full force ahead" on the sequel to the 1997 film.

Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow reclaim their hilarious roles as high school besties Romy and Michele.

We first met the duo 27 years ago when they embarked on a road trip to their high school reunion and faced the horrors of their high school years.

Sorvino and Kudrow will be executive producers, while screenwriter Robin Schiff returns to write the script.

There's still a lot of work to do and no script yet, but Sorvino says she hopes the two best friends are as quirky as ever.

Sorvino told the outlet, "I still want them to be as relatable but also as dumb and lovable as they ever were. I don’t think they’ve learned that much in the time in between, but they still have that unstoppable spirit and that friendship and that idiocy that makes everybody kind of love them. And so, that essential nature of them and the heart that’s at the center of that, that heart has to stay there.”

Let's hope the fashion is as crazy as ever because the scene of them on the fitness bikes is epic.
