One person was injured in a fire that happened at an address in Orillia with multiple units.

Just before 4 p.m. on Thursday, first responders were alerted about the blaze on Westmount Drive South.

Firefighters were able to get the flames under control and then entered the unit, bringing an individual out and immediately rendering first aid before the person was transferred to the care of paramedics, then taken to hospital where they are listed in stable condition. Police say a pet was found dead as a result of the fire.

The Orillia OPP Major Crime Unit with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshal are working to establish the cause of the blaze.
