A 16-year-old male from Barrie has been charged in connection to an assault investigation in Midland.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP say they received a report of a fight in the parking lot of a Yonge Street strip mall on Sunday at 7:46 p.m.
Officers say they found an injured person once at the scene.
"Investigators were able to locate a suspect person at the scene which was filled with witnesses and onlookers along with locating a female victim who required to be triaged by Simcoe County Paramedic Services at the scene and later transported to an area hospital for further medical treatment of injuries sustained in the assault," OPP said on Monday.
A Barrie teen was charged with:
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle
- Fail to Comply with Sentence (Two counts) contrary to the Youth Criminal Justice Act
The accused was released from custody to appear in youth court at a future date.
"The identity of the accused cannot be released and is protected by the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act," OPP added.
