York Regional Police have charged a 20-year-old Bradford man with sexual offences, including sexual assault, and believe there are more victims.
Police say in March 2023, a 16-year-old female communicated with the 19-year-old suspect through social media. Then a few months later in June, the victim met with the suspect who posed as a 17-year-old, and officers say he sexually assaulted her. On February 5, 2024, investigators charged the suspect with sexual assault.
According to police, further investigation revealed that in October 2023, a 13-year-old female met the suspect at a party where he posed as a 16-year-old. They say the suspect met with the victim at a later date and sexually assaulted her.
"Investigators learned the suspect had been visiting high schools in the Town of Newmarket, approaching students," officers said in a release on Wednesday. "Investigators are concerned that there may be other victims who have not yet contacted police and we encourage them to come forward."
