Barrie police laid impaired charges on a local driver after they spotted him exiting a restaurant on Bayfield Street.
Officers say they noticed the vehicle this morning around 1:10 a.m.
"After following it a short distance, and based upon observations made by the officers, a traffic stop was initiated as the vehicle turned left onto Livingstone Street West," police said in a news release.
"The male driver, who exhibited signs of impairment, was placed under arrest for impaired driving and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued."
Officers say a breathalyzer operator confirmed that the driver was almost three times over the legal limit.
