Back to business on Cedar Pointe Drive after Barrie police closed the road around 10:30 a.m. between Edgehill Drive and Dunlop Street when an officer was advised of a "suspicious package" that appeared to be left at a property.
In the interest of public safety, several nearby businesses were evacuated as the explosives disposal unit and tactical support unit arrived at the scene.
As it turns out, police say the package was actually monitoring equipment that had been placed at the location earlier in the morning.
The road was reopened just before noon and business owners were permitted to return.
Police thank the public for their patience and understanding while the scene was investigated.
