Officials with Western University's Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) say a tornado touched down in Simcoe County on Saturday.

"Following an NTP ground survey, we can confirm that a tornado occurred at Canadian Forces Base Borden at Borden, ON," officials stated in a release. "Initial reports on social media depicted a funnel cloud."

Based on a witness account, they say the start time was at 2:55 p.m.

They say the ground survey was completed on Sunday and found a "short track of EF0 damage."

No injuries were reported, according to officials, but the survey documented "weak tree damage and roof damage to a low-rise building."

"Damage assessed as EF0 tornado, with an estimated max. wind speed of 115 km/h, track length of 1.54 km and max. path width of 290 m. Tornado motion was from the WNW (approx. 300 degrees)," they wrote in the release.

They added that a satellite imagery review is pending.
