News release - City of Barrie

Due to a watermain break that occurred on Little Ave., approximately 75 houses within the affected area will not have water until approximately 4 p.m. today.

As well, due to a watermain break on Murray Street, about 35 households in that area will not have water until approximately 4 p.m. today.

In both locations, City of Barrie staff are on-site, and in both locations, there are no concerns with the safety of drinking water at this time. Impacted residents are being informed directly of the water outage via door-to-door visits.

Little Ave. is closed between Armstrong Boulevard and Huronia Road. Access for residents within the closure will be maintained and emergency services will have access to respond within the closure.

Barrie Transit has detours in place on Route 1, and it is detouring via Little to Bayview to Big Bay Point to Welham in each direction. Stops in the area of Little Ave. are temporarily closed and signed as “out of service.”

Murray Street is also closed. Access for residents within the closure will be maintained and emergency services will have access to respond.

The City will continue to provide updates to the public as we have them. Updates will be shared with local media and posted on the City of Barrie Facebook (www.facebook.com/cityofbarrie) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/cityofbarrie) accounts, as well at barrie.ca/WaterServices.
