A long list of charges for a 21-year-old Hamilton man in connection with a shooting in Wasaga Beach last month that wounded a woman.
On July 14, police and paramedics responded to a 9-1-1- call for a shooting at a residence on Bianca Crescent in Wasaga Beach.
OPP officers found a woman that had suffered a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
A suspect was arrested on Thursday, Aug 4.
He has been charged with:
· Attempted to Commit Murder (four counts)
· Firearm - Use While Committing Offence
· Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
· Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
· Pointing a Firearm
· Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
· Discharge a Firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner
· Assault Cause Bodily Harm
· Fail to Comply with Undertaking
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
Investigators believe that this was not a random but rather a targeted isolated incident.
The suspect has also been charged in connection with an assault in Collingwood on July 11.
Police say a man was found on First Street who had been assaulted by two men with one brandishing what appeared to be a handgun.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The charges against the Hamilton man in connection with the incident are:
- Aggravated assault
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Pointing a Firearm.
