Anne Heche is currently on life support and is not expected to survive following a car crash last week.

She suffered severe burns, along with brain and lung damage, when the car she was driving smashed through a home in a residential Los Angeles neighborhood.

A representative for the family issued a statement saying

“Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive.”

She is currently on life support to determine if her organs are viable for donation.

The statement said

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit.. “More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

The crash happened on Friday, August 5th, when the blue mini cooper she was driving smashed through a single-story home.

The collision ignited her car and the home destroying both. No one in the house was injured.

Police say drugs were found in her system, although they are unsure if those drugs were administered by the hospital when she was admitted.

They continue to investigate.
