Motorist found passed out in fast food drive-through; faces impaired driving

Southern Georgian Bay OPP say they have charged two motorists with impaired driving after separate incidents in Midland and Georgian Bay Township.

Officers responded to a report, around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, of a motorist passed out in the drive-through of a Midland fast food retailer on Simcoe County Road 93.

Investigators say they awoke the driver and entered a drinking and driving investigation.

A 31-year-old Tay Township man faces impaired driving charges.

While on Saturday, August 13, the OPP Communication Centre got a call just before 8 p.m. of a possibly impaired driver trying to drive away from a retail establishment on Lone Pine Road in Georgian Bay Township.

A community member assisted police by maintaining the suspect and his vehicle within the parking lot until officers arrived.

Once on scene, OPP spoke with the suspect motorist and entered into an impaired by drug investigation.

A 38-year-old Georgian Bay Township man is up on charges including impaired driving, and possession of a schedule 1 substance - heroin.

Both motorists were released on recognizance to appear in court at future date, as well, they face 90-day licence suspensions, and a seven-day vehicle impound.
