A 62-year-old man is nursing injuries after Barrie Police say he was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road at an uncontrolled location in the city's south end.

Around 9:45 Thursday night, police responded to a report a collision involving a pedestrian and motorcycle on Mapleview Drive East, east of Prince William Way.

"Investigators from the Barrie Police Traffic Unit, who are conducting the investigation, have determined that the pedestrian, who was crossing the road at an uncontrolled location east of intersection, was struck by a motorcycle that was travelling eastbound. A second motorcycle that was following the motorcycle that struck the pedestrian is believed to have made contact with the with the first motorcycle after the initial collision," police said in a news release on Friday.

Police say the pedestrian sustained what appeared to be serious injuries, but after being treated at a local hospital, the severity of his injuries was downgraded.

The investigation into this collision remains ongoing and police are asking witnesses or anyone with dash camera video of two motorcycles travelling on Mapleview Drive East to contact the investigating officer by email at davery@barriepolice.ca.
