Three teens are safe and a search was called off on Lake Simcoe after the youths were reported missing in the area of Leonard's Beach.
Officials with the South Simcoe Police Service received a call on Sunday around 5:07 p.m. about the trio who had not been heard from for several hours.
The service dispatched its marine unit and drone operator to find the group.
"Fortunately, the three individuals were located by another boater at approximately 5:53 p.m. and were safely returned to shore," officers stated in a release on Tuesday.
"The three individuals were on the same paddleboard together and did not have the adequate number of personal floatation devices (PFDs) required. They were cautioned by police and educated about proper usage of PFDs."
Police say for those on the water, PFDs are required by law and must be available for each person.
"South Simcoe Police urge anyone on the water to educate themselves about water safety and regulations," officers added. "Winds and water currents can change rapidly and even the most experienced people on the water can become vulnerable to inclement weather and water conditions.
