OPP renew appeal to public regarding homicide investigation in Tay Township

Southern Georgian Bay OPP are renewing their appeal to the public for information related to a homicide investigation in Tay Township.

On August 17, 2023, just after 2 p.m., OPP responded to reports of gunshots outside a Maple Street residence.

"Upon arrival, officers located one individual with apparent gunshot wounds," OPP said. "The individual was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre and succumbed to their injuries on August 22, 2023."

The deceased was identified as 41-year-old Jamie Miller of Victoria Harbour.

Police say they believe it was an isolated incident, and continue to investigate.

"We believe someone knows something that can help hold the person or persons responsible for Jamie's death accountable," Acting Detective Inspector Melanie Mezzatesta, OPP CIB Major Case Manager, stated in a release on Monday.

"Jamie's family and friends deserve answers, and we are committed to utilizing any resource to bring resolution in this case. The OPP will never close an unsolved homicide and will follow up on all tips. Anyone who has any information is urged to come forward. It's not too late to do the right thing."
