Barrie police are reminding motorists to drive with care and attention following two rollover collisions in the city in 12-hours.
Just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, police attended a collision at the intersection of Bayfield Street and Grove Street West that involved three vehicles.
"An eastbound sport utility vehicle (SUV), being driven by a 23-year-old male from Barrie, entered the intersection against a red light and rolled after being struck by a motor vehicle travelling northbound on Bayfield Street. The resulting collision caused the SUV to rollover onto its roof where it came into contact with a motor vehicle that was westbound from Grove Street West. The driver of the SUV was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries." police said in a news release.
The driver of the SUV was charged with careless driving.
The second collision, according to police, happened around 10:17 p.m. at the intersection of Anne Street and Dunlop Street West.
"From the investigation that followed, police have been able to determine that a sport utility vehicle (SUV) was travelling eastbound on Dunlop Street and entered the intersection against a red light. A southbound car was travelling through the intersection when it struck the SUV causing it to roll. The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old from Barrie, was transported to a local hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He too was charged with careless driving," police stated.
