York Regional Police have laid multiple charges and recovered almost $500,000 in property stolen from golf courses in Simcoe County, York, Durham and Waterloo regions.
Police say they began an investigation in August into thefts from golf courses and identified four male suspects linked to thefts and break-ins totalling $1 million.
Last Wednesday, officers executed search warrants at various homes and storage lockers in East Gwillimbury and Georgina.
"A large quantity of stolen property was recovered, including 18 golf carts worth almost $200,000, golf clubs valued at $100,00, rare Pokemon and Magic the Gathering trading cards worth about $100,000 and $20,000 worth of construction tools," police said in a news release.
Police also seized a variety of drugs including cocaine, marijuana and psilocybin as well as drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency.
According to investigators, at the time of this offence, one of the accused was bound by a lifetime weapons ban associated with previous unrelated charges.
The suspects, who range in age from 19 to 48, are from Keswick and Georgina.
