A Barrie driver is up on impaired charges following a two-vehicle crash, with OPP saying the accused fled the scene but was caught.
On Saturday just before 6:00 pm, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Forbes Road and Old Barrie Road in Oro-Medonte.
"Witnesses informed officers that one driver had fled the area on foot," OPP wrote in a release Sunday morning.
"The Central Region Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit assisted in locating the driver approximately 1.5 km away from the scene of the collision. Three of the passengers in the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."
A 27-year-old Barrie man has been charged with:
- Operation while Impaired (CC)
- Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) (CC)
- Fail to Remain (HTA)
- Careless Driving (HTA)
- Fail to Surrender Licence (HTA)
- Fail to Surrender Insurance (CAIA)
He is scheduled to appear in Orillia court at a later date.
His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
