Several weapons charges were laid by South Simcoe Police when authorities say they seized a loaded firearm at a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in Innisfil.
According to police, around 1:15 Saturday morning, officers encountered a vehicle on Innisfil Beach Road containing open liquor.
"The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a loaded firearm in the possession of a 22-year-old male from Innisfil. The firearm was found to be stolen from southern Ontario," a police news release stated.
The suspect was charged with the following:
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
- Careless use of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition
- Possession of Property Obtained by crime Under $5,000
- Provincial Offence Notice issued for Have Liquor in open container in unauthorized place
