Barrie police say a male suffered serious injuries in what appears to be a hit-and-run in the city's north end.

According to police communications coordinator Jennett Mays, officers were alerted around 7 a.m. Tuesday about an injured male who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle on Coulter Street at the entrance to the Bayfield Mall.

"There was no vehicle at the scene," said Mays in an email to Barrie 360.

The man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Mays added there were no further details at the moment.
