A police investigation into drug dealing in Angus has resulted in charges against a 62-year-old man.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they began their investigation late last year after receiving information about a male trafficking drugs in the community.
"On January 3, 2025, Officers observed the accused conduct multiple drug transactions in the Township of Essa. As a result, officers conducted a traffic stop arresting the accused on County Road 10," police said in a news release.
OPP say officers searched the vehicle of the accused and seized a taser, about $1,200 in cocaine, more than $1,500 in cash, a baseball bat, three scales, packaging for drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect, who is from Angus, has been charged with the following offences:
• Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
• Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine
• Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon at Unauthorized Place
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
• Fail to notify change of address
• No clear view to front
• Operate unsafe vehicle
• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
• Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
• Drive with improper headlights
The accused was held for a bail hearing on January 6th, 2025.
